There’s just something magical about waking up to a blue-skied, sun-soaked morning and knowing you’re heading straight to the beach. Taking a look at your weather, today we're sitting at a glorious 31°C - the kind of weather that begs for salty air, sandy toes and a cooler packed with fresh, homemade goodness. After our Saturday kick-boxing class, we're heading to our fav spot in the sands of Turkey Point.

New car unlocked - windows down, music up. Let’s adventure!

Here’s a peek inside our ultimate beach-day picnic (because you know we love some freshly packed foods from yours truly) and everything we tossed into beach bags to keep everyone safe and satisfied (links provided).

Gourmet Picnic Menus - Yes, Chef!

No beach trip is complete without a cooler packed to perfection. Ours is ice-cold and ready to roll! I've gotten some new recipe inspiration after watching The Bear Season 4 + reading Matty Matheson's Soups,, Salads, Sandwiches: A Cookbook.

So here it is, today's beach edition menu includes:

  • Fresh-cut pineapple, watermelon + mango – juicy, hydrating + child-friendly

  • A zesty-Italian feta-topped strawberry + green salad – crunchy, salty, summer-fresh

  • Gourmet sandwiches made with roasted home-cooked BBQ chicken, soft bakery buns, monterey jalapeño cheese, lettuce/arugula, sautéed peppers/onion, mango + our secret savory sandwich sauce (extra delish)

  • A maple-roasted brussels sprout salad - if you haven't tried a recipe like this; you're seriously missing out

  • Freshly squeezed lemonade – tart, refreshing and so much better than store-bought

  • Classic snacks for the kids – bananas, apples, bear paws, fruit snacks and juice boxes (mom mode always activated)

  • Freshly baked lucky charms cookies + double chocolate brownies - so we all have a little treat (and a perfect ice-cream topper)

  • Ice-filled filtered water bottles - staying hydrated in this heat is crucial

  • Kids electrolyte travel packs for extra hydration

What’s in My Bag: Beach Edition

Yes, the food is fab as always - but a beach day needs prep too. Our bags are loaded with essentials to keep us comfortable and ready for anything:

  • Sunscreen - 50+ spf is essential - let's protect our skin

  • A good book to officially turn relaxation mode, ON

  • Chair floaties to keep things fun in the water + off the scorching sands

  • Life jackets for the kids - safety first!

  • Flying discs + water guns to keep us on our toes

  • Sand buckets + shovels to build castles made of sand*

  • Cotton towels for quick drying or comfy lounging

  • A large beach blanket - sand-proof + picnic-perfect

  • Body oil for that beachy, glowing shine

  • Extra hats/clothes for everyone

  • A large beach umbrella to shadow the sun

  • Homemade Aloe Vera Gel for after-sun soothing (recipe linked here)
